If you have a pollen allergy, wash your hair, laundry, and your clothing as regularly as you can. Set a schedule during allergy season to make sure you wash often.

One way to keep allergies under control is to be sure that you keep a clean bathroom. While this is obviously essential for hygiene, it also will make a big impact on allergies because an unclean bathroom will be a perfect breeding ground for mold. Be sure to clean your bathroom at least once a week.

Take your clothes off as soon as you get home, and change into something new. Make sure to place your old clothes in a hamper with a cover. Clothing can trap outdoor allergens, bringing them into the home, and making you uncomfortable. When you remove the clothes, you remove the allergens too.

Use a dust mite cover for your bed and pillows. Many people report dramatic improvement in their allergies when they take this simple step. These cases do not cost much, but they keep dust mites from bothering you as you sleep. Try to avoid plastic cases, because they tend to crinkle and make noise.

Mask yourself from allergens. You might think you look silly, but think about using an air mask if you must be outdoors during times of high pollen count. Wear sunglasses and hats to make sure pollen stays away from your hair and eyes. By creating a barrier between you and the pollen, your allergies are likely to be easier to deal with.

If you enjoy the outdoors but avoid going out because you suffer from allergies, consider spending time outside after the rain. Rain helps minimize the amount of pollen that is found in the air. So you will find the least amount of pollen after a nice rain storm has passed through.

If you suffer from allergies, keep your windows closed during daytime hours. Use the air conditioner instead. This applies in the home, and in the car. Natural air smells great, and depending on it will reduce your consumption of electricity or gas. However, it can trigger allergy problems and result in your suffering.

If allergy season has made your eyes dry, itchy and irritated, a cold compress may be just the thing you need to find relief. Applying a chilled gel pack, eye pillow or cloth over your eyes can reduce swelling within minutes. This also works wonders for eliminating unsightly redness; it is in addition extremely relaxing!
