Halloween naturally a pleasurable period. Not mainly for small children but for men and women likewise. After all, what person doesn't have fun with getting dressed up as his or her preferred ghoul, goblin, hero, or bad guy, and get out trick-or-treating or even to a Halloween function. Halloween is an event commemorated world wide and in almost every region since there are seasonal and faith based associations which are well-known. It has existed for nearly 500 years.

There is some supposition over the origin of Halloween(not the name) but the celebration. Some experts link it to the Roman feast of Pomona, who was the goddess of fruits and seeds. Other individuals believe it began as Parentalia, the "festival of the dead". It is however, more frequently linked to the Celtic festival labeled as Samhain, a Gaelic celebration that honors the conclusion of summertime.

Obviously the name "Halloween" is far more famously connected to the Scottish variance of "All-Hallows-Eve", or, the night preceding All-Hallows-Day or All Saints day. It arose in 1556, and over the generations All-Hallows-Eve became Halloween. Halloween is October 31st, and is commemorated globally, though cultures observe during this date. Certain areas celebrate on the 2nd Tuesday in December.

Halloween has a considerable amount of symbolism and imagery which has evolved progressively several countries and movements have led to it. Most significantly are the Jack-o'-lantern, Dracula, ghosts, death, evil, and dark scary themes. Black and orange are Halloween's official colors. Halloween has spawned a whole industry of costume manufacturers and each year the most recent trend of popular movies and characters contributes to offerings.

There are also countless activities that have become customs of Halloween. Trick-or-treating has become the most preferred. Kids around the globe get dressed up and go house to house within their neighborhoods gathering candy and sweets. There are Halloween celebrations, prank playing, games that include bobbing for apples, and attending haunted houses & graveyards.

Favorite foods at Halloween are candy or caramel apples, candy corn, popcorn, apple cider, and baked pumpkin seeds. Many other cultures have traditional foods they prepare for instance Ireland's barmbrack that's a fruit bread.

Halloween symbolizes the season of the harvest and the conclusion of summer. Fall or Autumn in the northern hemisphere is when the weather turns cool and cultures harvest their crops in preparation of winter. Many people claim it is their favorite season citing cooler weather, back to school, the beginning of the American Football season, and many other reasons. All in all it is a great time and remains an important part of the calendar year.
