More About The Particular Composition Of Tanning Bed Lotions For Great Tans

By Haywood Hunter

Many people wishing to get rid of their pale and washed-out skin appearance are taking advantage of tanning beds. These beds are well built and comfortable to use. In spas and other places, special tanning bed lotions are used to assure an all-over beautiful tan color.

These devices produce the tan by the use of ultraviolet radiation (UVA), which is also found in the sun's rays. Fluorescent lamps are used for this purpose. There are also shields made of acrylics in the beds for protection. Regular outdoor creams cannot be used in this process, as they will damage the shields.

The Federal Food and Drug Administration that regulates these beds, requires warning labels, eye protection, and lamp compliance when in use. Many states also have laws in place regulating the operation of these devices. This would include things such as training operators, sterilization of the beds, additional labels, and so forth.

Each customer must be covered with a special lotion. This is not the same as the lotion purchased at the corner store for outdoor use. Some of these special products contain agents which, when applied, bring blood to the surface of the skin and cause a tingling sensation. These are designed to allow the skin to tan faster and more evenly.

A popular addition to these special brands are bronzers, also known as DHA. This is a liquid chemical coming from glycerin which interacts with the skin's amino acid, causing it to brown and speeding up the process. There are 'Cool Bronzers", which contain menthol and 'Hot Bronzers" which contain tingle.

There are many different brands of tanning bed lotions. They may contain tea oil, copper, L-Tyrosine, melanin, green tree extract, normal oil, or other things. Regular use of one of these booths can cause the skin to dry out. That is why the majority of products add hempseed oil, which is a moisturizing ingredient.
