By Dario Petkovic

As a web surfer and lets face the facts, a lot of us in the developed world are pretty well hooked on the net, you would be completing one or more of the 1 billion searches - each day! That's right, there are that many searches on the daily basis on the 'big G' internet search engine and let's not forget Yahoo! and Microsoft's Bing. There is a new web player in what's referred to as a social media search market, and they're launching in a short time.

And so, would you bother what is presented to you when you look for data, services or products?

The answer is straightforward, you would be interested in those results whether you are a writer of the data or the owner of the business that gives goods and services. And so exactly how are the major players inside the search engine industry space (major search engines and the like!) deciding as to what results to provide you first?

The actual answer is social signs - major search engines will surely be using increasingly more of social indicators in regards to search results. This truly is just about going back to the times of internet marketing and in my view it is working well. You really are almost certainly going to purchase a product that was assessed and endorsed by more individuals and if that includes your mates and family - even better.

This is known as social proof and if fits the definition of people assuming that actions of others mirror right behaviour. We human beings exhibit herd like habits and there's not much we are able to do about it.

So, Google has tapped into these social patterns by incorporating snippets to search engine result modules of 'John Smith graded it excellent' when John is actually part of your circles on Google Plus social networking site, smart isn't it!

But then, the latest player out there is who else but Facebook, the largest social networking web-page on the planet presently drawing in over 1 billion people. The search that is in early testing for the time being is called Graph Search and it's invitation only presently.

You can join the latest release program provided that you are using English US for your default FB language by visiting Facebook dot com Graph Search.

Graph search gives you results dependent on your buddies interests, content, check-ins and alike. So if you are trying to find a superb Thai eating establishments in Sydney, what Graph search will give you would be the selection of eateries your friends have also been to or recommended previously.

As privacy is very important, every Facebook user will be able to opt out of being part of the Graph Search results.
