I have seen a lot of people who think that digital and Internet marketing mean the same thing. Well, the approaches are similar - but not the same. The fact is, although both use new technology to market a product or service, they have these differences that marketers should be aware of.

So, how does digital marketing differ from Internet marketing?

Instead of explaining the main difference between the two, I chose to share some insights about the topic from Alex Chris because his explanation about their difference is worth-sharing. In his article he has emphasized that "digital marketing is a broad term that describes a set of marketing processes that utilize all available digital channels to promote a product or service or build a digital brand." And then he added that Internet marketing is "a subset of digital marketing. It is in fact the most important component since the majority of digital marketing activities fall within the boundaries of Internet marketing."

The above conception reveals the main difference between that two: digital marketing has a wider scope over internet marketing as the former leverages more marketing platforms, which include mobile and social media, than the latter, which focuses on conventional marketing platforms - search engines, websites.

Digital marketing has even become more promising as it is also designed to target the mobile audience. This is imperative most especially today that there is an exponential increase of use of mobile platforms such as iPhone and android devices throughout the world.
