Having some group play with their friends encourages team work and cooperation all while having an amazing time laughing and being young.

Just because something is a classic, does not mean it is not still exciting. Almost everyone can remember playing Marco Polo when they were younger. The simple concept of having the person who is it close their eyes and yell "Marco!" while everyone else bobs around, responding with "Polo!" while trying to avoid being tagged, will be a favorite for generations to come.

An even more thrilling water game that is actually better suited for older children and teens is chicken fighting. It requires everyone to split off into pairs with one person sitting on the shoulders of their partner. At the starting signal those on top try to pull each other off the bottoms and the last team standing takes the victory.

Creating a whirlpool is best played in rounded pools that have a constant depth and is a great way to get all the children working together as a team. Start them moving around the sides in the same direction, like a train that starts slow and increases speed with each lap. Before long they will be going to fast that the water takes over and begins to move on it's own, allowing the youngsters to lift their feet and enjoy the ride until the momentum winds down.

Jousting is a highly energetic competition that can be played in rounds as teams or as an elimination for individuals. Two people straddle inflatable rafts as their horses and meet in the middle of the battlefield trying to unseat there opponent using a pool noodle. The one with the most victories is the winner though even those who lose will find it worth it because of the fun.

Relay races can be a lot of fun with various floating devices such as rafts, donuts and inner tubes. All the children should form two teams, half of each going to opposite poolsides. The starters mount the floats and paddle as quickly as possible to their teammate waiting on the other end, they tag out and the seconds make their way back across to the third, continuing the passes until every member of one group has made it for the win.

Entertaining the children during the heated summer days is actually quite an easy process. Allowing them to gather together to partake of some classic pool party games for kids is a great option. The old favorites are still as much fun as they always were, especially when some new innovative twists are added.
