What To Look For When Buying Easter Bunny Children Books

By Leslie Ball

If you want to interest a child in reading and build a lifelong love of books, there are a few things that you can do to help this. One is to tie books to fun times such as holidays. There are many Easter Bunny children books available that you can use to introduce a child to the written word. Here are tips for what to look for when you go shopping.

The age of the child you are shopping for should be your first consideration. If a book is too complicated for a child, they will often become bored and uninterested. Forcing them to read or look at something they do not like can actually cause a child to develop an aversion to reading that can take years to undo. If a child is very young, make sure that there are more pictures than words and that the images are bright and fun to look at.

Durability is also important. Youngsters often love to put things in their mouth. You want to make sure that the choice you make can hold up to some chewing and can be wiped clean. You want to make sure that you can clean it as their items will often wind up with food on them and keeping them clean is important.

If you are buying them for a slightly older child, look for fun story lines and repetitive words. Kids respond very well to these. You may find that they ask you to read them again and again and may even recite them along with you after the child has memorized the words. At this point, it is still good to make sure they have bright, colorful pictures that can entertain a child.

The next stage that a reader goes through is as an emerging reader. At this point, the words become as important as the images. Rhyming phrases and stories that are fun and light-hearted will likely be the best choices. Again, you want to make sure you are keeping the story at the level of the reader so that they do not get bored and you do not need to buy books as frequently.

There are many options for older readers as well. They may begin to talk about topics other than the Easter bunny but some still might. There are often books which can talk about the religious side of the holiday as well as fun traditions such as the Easter bunny. You may want to make sure you are reading the book before you give it to an older child to make sure it is sending a message that you approve of.

The internet is always a great place to look for options. You might want to do some research before you actually buy anything, however. Look for reviews from both parents and educators that are used to working with children. That way you can find ones that are an appropriate age level for the child who will be receiving it and you can be more confident that your purchase will be well-received.

Now that you have the books to read, you can start setting up a good time to do so. You want to make sure that the time is enjoyable and this can be hard to do if you are stressed or rushed. Over time, you may find that you really love this special time between you and the child you are buying the stories for.
