Happiness isn't somethign that just shows up in our lives whenever we feel like it. Happiness depends on our actions.
End your pursuit of happiness.
Most likely Hollywood, magazines, talk shows etc. wouldn't really like this idea too much because it would ease back on viewership if people followed through with it, but I am actually going to say it again. End your pursuit of happiness.
Rather, understand that it is in our daily actions and growth all though life that we really find accomplishment, and in the end, deep and true happiness.
I'm not recommending that contentment isn't a critical aspect in each of our lives - it'd be ignorant to claim such a thing. What I'm proposing is that possibly there's a different trail we could actually take that will guide us to greater happiness all throughout our life. Possibly we should be targeting more on the development of our mind, body, and soul every day in little increments to guarantee that we are consistently growing and adapting in positive ways? This is going to be a interesting alternate track to take instead of always looking for something that we can never truly grasp onto.
If we are consistently growing, we feel that we are making progress in our lives and are thus ok with how things are going. Nevertheless aimlessly searching for an emotion that cannot be gripped onto like other emotion we experience seems a bit hopeless to start with. There has to be another way of doing things which will help us become even more successful in life ultimately.
So what if you tried on this way of doing things for a while and allowed yourself to focus on growth instead of happiness?
Who is able to say what might happen?
All I know is that development in life is attached to personal development and growth and that contentment is not far behind.
Food for thought.
