SEO Claims: Which One to Believe?

By Shane Walker

It looks like SEO is still puzzling many people engaged in it. This is because of several different concepts thrown in different parts in the web. For that reason, people who are beginning in SEO are having a rough start.

One silly point of view on search engine optimisation is that a number of people keep insisting that meta descriptions execute a role in ranking a site. Well the simple truth of the matter is that meta tags do not have any major worth in your Google rankings. It only helps enhance your click through rates. People want to see a good glance of what is within your content. Consequently, it is still important to produce an alluring meta description although it does not give an effect on your search engine optimisation rankings.

One of the most famous ideas published in many sites is the claim that Google requires a particular proportion of key phrase density in order to become optimum. Despite the fact that keyword density is in fact a key point, it is not true that Google has uncovered any rates. They do not spill anything specific. As much as Google is concern, the more critical thing is the readability of your written content. Even so, just be mindful and stay away from over optimising your key phrases.

Another report claimed by many people who supply SEO packages is that ranking will be hard if you do not submit a sitemap to Google. Same with meta tags and descriptions, sitemaps has nothing to do with the overall search positions of a certain site. The sitemap is only useful for discovery purposes. It lets you know the number of inbound links that you have.

Among all aspects, the most debatable issue is whether social media will be the new SEO or not. For other people, social media is just a sales channel and will never ever arise as a major element of SEO. On the flip side, many people assume that Google is going social as they want content to be more legitimate for their viewers. In such a case, it is up to you to figure out which side of the scenario are you in.
